The City of Merkel, Merkel Police Department is currently taking applications for the follow positions:
Administrative Clerk | Property & Evidence Technician
The Administrative Clerk/Property & Evidence Technician is a non-sworn, civilian position within the City of Merkel, Merkel Police Department that performs various clerical and evidentiary functions for the department. The employee has direct responsibly over the Property and Evidence Room and would assist with physical and digital records upkeep and maintenance for the department’s criminal and departmental records. Training will be provided in all areas of Property, Evidence, and Records as they pertain to Law Enforcement.
The Administrative Clerk/Property and Evidence Technician will work under the immediate supervision of the Chief of Police.
As an employee of the City of Merkel, you may be asked to perform additional functions outside of the Police Department, i.e. City Hall or Customer Service type functions, at the need and discretion of City Management.
Some Prerequisites include:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Exceptional Organizational Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Some clerical and/or records experience preferred.
Experience with office computer technology using multiple software platforms to include MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite (AI, PS, Acrobat, etc).
Additional Experience (not required):
Preferred Texas Association of Property and Evidence Technicians basic certification, but this is not required.
